Taking Risks and Being Independent
Risk taking is key to ensuring children learn. Risk taking is good for children: taking risks is exhilarating and children want and need to take risks with adult support when needed. It supports children to become confident learners.
We encourage children to put their coats, aprons, wellington boots and outdoor waterproofs on independently. Children also help to tidy up as they play and wash up and cut the fruit needed for their snacks and pour their own drinks. Children learn to use the toilets independently and to start to change their clothes if needed.
