Rowland Hill Nursery School & Children's Centre

Clay and Sculpture

Clay by its very nature is democratic and inclusive: it offers rich possibilities for children at all levels of development. It is a material which is open to many possibilities. Clay can inspire and extend creative thinking. It is engrossing, open- ended, tactile and sensory. Annual Parent /child workshops are held to celebrate children learning using clay and to develop parent s understanding of the importance of clay work with young children.

Rowland Hill links with various Art galleries such as the Royal Academy, Tate Modern, and Henry Moore Museum to support children’s developing understanding of sculpture in the wider world. Sculpture supports children to use various resources to construct and thus represent their thoughts.
