Children's Well being
Children’s emotional well being is just as important as their physical health. Good mental health helps them develop the resilience to cope with changes during life and helps then to grow up into well-rounded, healthy adults.
Things that can help keep children and young people's mental well-being include:
- being in good physical health, eating a balanced diet and getting regular exercise
- having time and freedom to play, indoors and outdoors
- being part of a family that gets along well most of the time
- Being show loving care
- Good attendance at school
- taking part in local activities in their community
- Building friendships with children their age
It can be tricky to describe our emotions so it is important to model language for our children to support their ability to talk about their feelings. Use these emotion wheels to enrich your child’s growing vocabulary.
